Great uses for Olive Oil
Olive oil is great for more than just cooking. In fact, it has numerous uses including easing ear aches, polishing metals, as a hair conditioner, and as a skin conditioner. Below are some great uses for this miracle oil.
One of the most frequent health problems in children is ear aches. In fact, they are so prolific that often children are over-treated with antibiotics or worse, are forced to undergo surgery to implant tubes to assist the ears in proper drainage.
Olive oil can be a great remedy for ear aches. Application is easy. Warm the olive oil up just a bit, so its barely above room temperature. Using a syringe place 2 -4 drops in each ear for children 2 and older. This can also be used on adults, just change the dosage to 5 - 10 drops in each ear. It is best to follow up with your pediatrician.
Another great use for this wonder oil is to polish stainless steel. Many people are opting for the complete stainless steel kitchens. They look great, but are a pain to keep clean and shiny. An inexpensive way to keep your kitchen shiny is to use olive oil to polish it. Just apply a very light layer of olive oil with a soft cloth in a circular motion and your kitchen will shine like it was brand new.
Olive oil can also be used to condition the hair and skin. Applying olive oil to dry or damaged hair is a great way to revive it. Just completely saturate the hair with olive oil and wrap up with a warm towel. Leave the towel wrapped up for about 20 minutes, then shampoo, rinse, and condition.
Olive oil can also be used to soften skin. The fatty acids in olive oil help to soften rough elbows, knees, hands, and even cuticles. At night, just rub a bit of extra-virgin olive oil into the dry areas of the skin for a renewing, moisturized feel.
